OUR STORY

Munnar Catering College is a Hospitality Education Institution established by the Thachankary Foundation. The college was set up with the purpose of imparting education and maintaining and operating allied facilities for the promotion of hospitality, tourism, art, culture, social activities etc.

Today, the college is a specialist and thought leader in Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism education and is the largest institute of its kind in India. Munnar Catering College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Govt. of India and the Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Kerala. It is affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

The college is promoted by Royal Group of Companies – a multi-faceted conglomerate based in Kerala, India with over four decades of experience in Hospitality and allied industries. The group is engaged in Education, Aviation, Shipping, Advertising, Plantation, Hotels, Resorts and Travel & Tourism.

The group operates two campuses in Kerala, India—a fully residential campus in Munnar and a city-centre campus in Cochin.

According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the sector contributed US$11.7 trillion to the global economy in 2025, accounting for approximately 10.3% of global GDP. It also supported 366 million jobs worldwide, representing 10.9% of total global employment, and generated one in every three new jobs created globally. As international travel continues to recover and expand, the industry remains a key driver of economic growth, foreign exchange earnings, employment generation, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange across the world.
